The areas that we serve (Fannin, Gilmer, Towns, Union) have been taken off of the declining market indicator as being a soft market. Zip codes from Ellijay all the way up to Hiawassee have officially returned to stable market conditions according to Tracey Lindsey, Mortgage Consultant with PHH Mortgage and a mortgage representative of Coldwell Banker. The data that drives this indicator is gathered thru appraisals and avm’s. This indicator has been reading soft and some zips declining since early 2008. There is optimism that we have hit the bottom and may be starting back up. Buyers must feel it too, because we are busy here in the mountians! If you are seriously interested in buying property in North Georgia but have been hesitant, do not miss the opportunity to get in before the market swings. I am already beginning to see some prices start to increase. We still have a lot of inventory and prices plus rates are still low.
